Greenhouse gas emissions change in the European Union 1990-2022, by country
In 2022, greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union (EU-27) were roughly 31 percent lower than they were in 1990. Only seven EU member states have observed overall increases in emissions between 1990 and 2022. Meanwhile, GHG emissions in Germany – the largest emitter in the EU – have fallen by almost 40 percent, relative to 1990 levels.
