Support for complete ban on high-sugar drinks sale Singapore 2019 by age group
According to a survey conducted on the implementation of a sugar tax ban in Singapore in July 2019, around 68 percent of the respondents who are aged 55 years and above stated that they supported a complete ban on high-sugar drinks sale in Singapore. As sugary drinks have been a major contributor to obesity and diabetes, more action from the government is needed to improve availability and access to healthy foods. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
