Diabetics and non-diabetics' support for sugary drinks ban Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted on implementing a sugar tax in Singapore in July 2019, around 68 percent of the respondents who were diabetic stated that they supported a complete ban on the sale of high-sugar drinks in Singapore. Sugary drinks have been a major contributor to obesity and diabetes, and more action from the government is needed to improve availability and access to healthy foods. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
