As home to tennis' oldest tournament, Wimbledon, England has a long and storied history with the sport. The country's affinity for tennis has not diminished with time, with a survey by Sport England, the sports governing body for England, finding that roughly 861 thousand participants played tennis at least twice a month in 2023.

Tennis in England, as well as in Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, is governed by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). The staff numbers at the LTA are around 300, and employees work on improving participation, performance, events and governance. The LTA generates a revenue of around 80 million British pounds per year, mainly through major events such as the Wimbledon Championships.
