The marginal lending facility is a monetary policy instrument used to manage overnight liquidity. In other words, banks use the facility to borrow money on a short-term basis, in order to satisfy the money reserve requirements. As of December 2023, the marginal lending facility of the European Central Bank (ECB) was 240 million euros.
