College saving - average parent savings in the U.S. by age of child and income
The statistic shows the average college savings made by parents in the United States for their oldest child. The results are divided into averages and by income groups ranging from low-income to high-income, a total is also given. In 2012, parents in the United States who were in the low-income categroy and had a child aged between 0 and 6 saved on average 796 U.S. dollars for their childs college education, while those in the high-income category had put away sums amounting, on average, to 1,837 U.S. dollars.
