Domestic violence recorded incidences in Portugal 2022-2023, by degree of kinship
In 2023, in Portugal, 28 percent of the recorded incidences of domestic violence occurred between spouses or partners. The second most common victims when domestic violence was concerned were children or stepchildren of the accused, at a share of 27 percent, while parents or stepparents were victims in seven percent of incidences. Domestic violence between ex-partners constituted seven percent of all occurrences in the country, while boyfriends and girlfriends were responsible for domestic violence in five percent of cases..
