When surveyed in 2022, some 62 percent of survey respondents in selected European Union Countries* stated that the proposal for an EU rule, that would require food imported from outside the EU to meet the same, or higher environmental standards as food produced within the EU should apply to all countries outside the EU. Approximately 17 percent stated that such a law should apply only to rich countries outside the EU.
