Mineral production volume in Nigeria 2016, by type
In 2016, Nigeria produced some 42 million tons of minerals. Quarrying of stone, sand, and clay (crushing and breaking of limestone and gypsum) accounted for the largest production, with some 41.6 million tons. Other non-Ferrous ores such as copper, lead, zinc, tin, manganese, and precious metals (gold) added up to 175 thousand tons, the second largest production of metals in Nigeria.
