According to a June 2020 study, it was estimated that each day of the suspension of cruise operations due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic would lead to a loss of approximately 2,500 jobs worldwide. In Europe, each halted day would result in a loss of roughly 800 jobs in the cruise industry, while in the United States and the United Kingdom there was estimated to be a daily loss of approximately 600 and 140 jobs, respectively.
