In 2022, the southern state of West Bengal in India had the highest number of cyber crimes intending to incite hate speech against the country. Around five individuals incited hate speech in the Indian state. Overall, the country recorded approximately 20 cyber crime offenses with sedition as motive that same year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
