Income from tourism in Spain 1959-1973
Between 1959, in the early years of the Spanish tourism boom, until 1973, the year of the 1973-1975 Recession, income from tourism in Spain rose from 129 million U.S. dollars to 3.1 billion U.S. dollars. This period was the most prosperous in European history, with virtually uninterrupted economic growth across most of the continent, which facilitated Spain's emergence as the most popular destination for holidaymakers from Western Europe.
