Presidential election results in Turkey 2023, by round
The Turkish presidential election was originally set for June 18, 2023, but the government moved the date forward by a month. Consequently, the first round of presidential elections was held on May 14, 2023. As a result of the first round, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ended up getting a higher share of votes, namely 49.5 percent. However, he was unable to receive a simple majority of votes cast in the first round, resulting in the election process proceeding to a second round. Incumbent president Erdoğan won in the second round, securing 52.2 percent of the votes. In the meantime, his main opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu increased his votes by three percent, receiving 47.8 percent of the votes in the second round.
